Saudade is a Portuguese word, a sweet sadness. It names the feeling of something still present but already fading, haunted by its own echo.
These photographs were taken in Portugal and its countryside, in Lisbon, Porto, Sintra, and the quieter places between them.
They are photographs of what we leave behind, knowing that all traces will inevitably be reclaimed by time.
